Do The Most Good For The Most People.

Even when it is hard.

Many of us are still stinging from the treatment we received at the hands of COVID fanatics, spineless superiors, and colleagues who wished the worst on us. The administration has changed and we are seeing the possibility of real accountability. Don’t let that pain turn into vengeance. As best you can, show empathy for your colleagues. Many are struggling through the new normal. Which is the old normal…

Boys are different than girls.

We don’t need pronouns to determine someone’s gender.

There is no good reason for USAID to pay for USD 7.9 Million dollars to Sri Lankan journalists to avoid binary gendered language.

I am not saying it is going to be easy and you will probably get resistance, even when you are sincerely trying to alleviate their anxiety. Take former Feds for Freedom Secretary Megan Guerrero for example.

She offered sincere advice and empathy when colleagues went into apoplectic fits over the closure of USAID programs.

The response was typical of the Diplomatic community. They question credentials and call names. I am pretty sure their degrees at GW’s Elliot School covered heavy dose of … epidemiology, virus pathology, biology, vaccine research or other science. F4F members have all of that expertise covered.

It won’t be easy, but try try to treat everyone like a future ally… Even if they want to wreck you in the comments.

If you happen to be in the trailing houses group, please feel free to drop this post and my special brand of empathy into the chat. They never approved my entry into the group. I am kind, but I still like a good argument. I will leave the comments open.
